One-point advice from Ms. Hoshizuki

The theme for this session is "About Water."

We will discuss the importance of daily hydration.

Hello everyone.

This is Hoshizuki.

The hot days continue, but are you doing well?

It is often said that "drinking 2 liters of water a day is ideal."

For adults, 55-65% of body weight is water.

If 1% of that is lost, you feel thirsty, and if 2% is lost, you may experience dizziness, nausea, and loss of appetite.

Furthermore, if 10% is lost, you may faint, and if 20% is lost, your life is at risk.

(Apparently, it becomes difficult to sustain life in 2-3 days if you can't drink a single drop of water...)

Being able to consistently hydrate every day can lead to detoxification effects and improved skin quality.

The necessary water intake varies depending on age, physique, and season, but generally it's 35 ml per kg, so for a 50 kg person, 1750 ml, and for a 60 kg person, 2100 ml is a guideline.

(Food also contains water, so you can include that in your calculations!)

Some people may say, "I don't like water...", but tea or sports drinks cannot truly substitute for water.

Try to find ways to drink it, even little by little, such as "drinking hot water" or "adding fruit."

Also, coffee and alcohol have diuretic effects, and drinking too much can lead to dehydration.

Do not include them in your 2-liter daily water intake, and be sure to actively hydrate when you have to go to the bathroom frequently.

How you drink water is also important; if you drink a large amount at once, your body cannot absorb it efficiently, leading to wasteful excretion or causing coldness and swelling.

Aim to drink water frequently, about one glass (150ml to 200ml), especially upon waking, during exercise, before and after bathing, and before bed!
